Great Skin Care Strategies to Reduce the Oil Production in Your Face
Article by Rebecca Campbell
Perhaps you gave up long ago in your battle with skin that always seems to be oily. While it’s true that you can’t do anything about a genetic inheritance, there is a lot that you can do to reduce the production of oil in your skin. Getting obsessive about the frequency with which you wash your face is a bad idea and can lead to skin damage. You need to have a layer of oil on your skin but you don’t want there to be so much that you start looking shiny. Your skin needs the oil for moisturizing and for protection. If you’re always washing that oily layer away your skin will simply make more oil to counteract your efforts. That can help you if you didn’t know about it already and this article has even more helpful information.
You can get rid of your oily skin shine problems even while wearing makeup! You need to match your skin type to skin care products. You should also take care to buy water based products and not products that are oil based. Water acts as a natural astringent and it won’t add to your oil production. Where do you live? If you typically experience hot and humid weather–especially in the summers–cut down on your makeup use; you don’t need a lot of it. Looking good can be as easy as only using moisturizer and blush–as covered up as you think you need to be. Everyone knows that they need to wash their faces and remove all of their makeup before they go to sleep each night. Overlooking this vital piece of advice means that you are basically setting yourself up for oily skin problems. No matter what, you should always remove every bit of make-up from your face at the end of your day. It even would be a good idea to remove it after work. It is important to use a good makeup remover no matter when you decide to do this. Once it is off, clean your face with a good cleanser for faces and apply a thin layer of moisturizer.
It is also a good idea, if you aren’t wearing any makeup, to simply wash your face in clean pure water and not anything else. We cringe about using regular tap water in the US because it contains fluoride and chlorine. This is why, if you have the means, you should use filtered water. Using a faucet mounted water purifier is a good way to make sure your water doesn’t have chlorine. Chlorine can really dry out your skin and you don’t want that! Then after washing, apply a water based moisturizer. Dirt and other impurities get washed away by the water and the moisturizer keeps your skin from drying out. If you’re struggling with an oily skin problem that constantly causes you stress and anguish, then you have to get a little smarter about it. The more you learn about your skin, how to tackle it, and appropriate skin care you’ll be able to reduce the condition quite a bit.
